Hello, friends! 🙂 Yesterday marked the end of my Lipsticks of the Week series (otherwise known as March Madness to me, haha). I’m really happy and relieved that I’ve finished my very first series on my blog; it’s the first time I’ve really done anything like this!
Let’s look back at the lipsticks from 22-23 March, because I only went to work on those days that week. It was the Holy Week celebration here in the Philippines, and I was off work from Maundy Thursday to Easter Sunday – I figured it was only natural to not wear makeup on those holidays, mainly because I felt it would be respectful to the actual reason for Holy Week.
TUESDAY – 22 March
Aha, a photo wherein you can see my whole face! This was Colourpop’s Ultra Matte Lip in Clueless – a pretty mauve-pink that somehow brightens up my face. And for good measure – I had to work a morning shift that day, which my evening/closing shift body clock totally hates! Needless to say, I was so, so sleepy.. but Clueless makes me look less tired, I think. And me, not love this lip colour? AS IF!
WEDNESDAY – 23 March
NYX Butter Gloss in Peach Cobbler was actually the first one I purchased from the Butter Gloss line – it was the only one available when I visited the NYX Cosmetics store in SM City Cebu, while on a solo trip there. It looks intimidating, a bright orange straight out of the tube; but once slicked onto the lips it’s actually a pretty coral. I love that colour is buildable, and lips never feel parched. A word of caution – don’t slather on too many layers as it’ll end up quite tacky! But nevertheless, the Butter Glosses are really in a league of their own; at least to me!
Alright, and here come the lipsticks from this last week!
TUESDAY – 29 March
I chose an easy, wearable colour for that day because I wasn’t feeling at my best – my skin still hasn’t completely recovered, and I had a couple of bad eggs pop up on my face. :'( Nevertheless, Revlon’s Colorburst Matte Balm in Sultry was the perfect pick. On me, it leans slightly pink; but I’ve seen it lean slightly brown or red on others. One of my work colleagues actually has the same lipstick!
WEDNESDAY – 30 March
How about a walk on the dark side? Manic Panic’s Lethal Lipstick in Daughter of Darkness was definitely a shock to my workmates, as it was the first time I’ve worn a lipstick so.. dark! I’ve actually only worn it outside the house once, which means that it really was about time this beautiful oxblood colour came into play. I love how it applies, leaving a velvety matte finish. The only con – it comes off quite easily, especially if you’re the type who eats and drinks a lot, like me. You’ll have to completely remove it before reapplying. But honestly, I don’t really mind. Who can say no to such a rich, luscious colour?
THURSDAY – 31 March
The photo came out quite warm, so this needed a bit of tweaking – Colourpop’s Lippie Stix in Grunge is a rich, cool-toned brown. My affinity for this brown-toned beauty is no joke; I’ve already bought a backup tube! It looks good both on its own, or with a made-up face. Also, for some reason, this applied smoother than my other Lippie Stix!
FRIDAY – 1 April
Maybe it was because it was April Fools’ Day that the photo came out so, so off; so I had to tweak it to a point where my skintone was obviously not its actual colour, just so I could show the lip colour more accurately! (And the colour looks truer to me on mobile than on PC–) This is Colourpop’s Ultra Matte Lip in Lychee – a warm neon purple. I’m not really a fan of warm-toned lipsticks, moreso neon colours.. but Lychee was too pretty to pass up on, not to mention it’s a close dupe for MAC’s Heroine lipstick, which my friend Allie has! (She was very proud of me for wearing this!)
SATURDAY – 2 April
Wet n’ Wild’s Megalast Lipstick in Cherry Bomb was the star of my Saturday – I even wore my Marilyn Monroe UT shirt from Uniqlo with it! This lipstick’s very pigmented; even when the initial colour comes off from eating, drinking, or any other activity, it leaves a lasting stain on your lips. I had burgundy-tinted lips the whole night, and needed to wipe the rest of the colour off with a bi-phase cleanser when I got home. The best part is that it’s pretty inexpensive – I bought mine for less than Php200 at a bazaar.
SUNDAY – 3 April
I decided to close my series with a recent favourite, Gerard Cosmetics’ Hydra Matte Liquid Lipstick in Serenity; a soft, warm pink with brown tones. It comes of slightly peachy on me, but I love it all the same. I don’t really gravitate towards warm-toned lipsticks, but how could I resist this beauty? I love the formulation as well – lips never feel parched, and it stood against heavy food and drink. And of course.. I love it because the inspiration for this shade was Sailor Moon!
To everyone who followed along my Lipsticks of the Week series, whether through Instagram or right here, thank you! I am truly happy and grateful that you took time out to follow my ramblings, and that you didn’t tired of my face. Heehee! I hope to keep your patronage and readership, it really means a lot to me. Thank you, all! <3 <3 <3
