Hello, everyone! I know it’s been a while since I wrote anything on here. Needless to say, 2016 has been pretty rough for me and I don’t think it’s letting up even as the year slowly comes to a close. Here’s a bit of writing to compensate a little bit for it. (Won’t even develop a proper plot since I’m at work. ^^;;)
Here’s the Reddit link for my writing prompt for today!
“Just give in,” she said. “Things aren’t getting any better, so why even hope for it.”
She was very insistent, as she always had been. For the longest time I was able to ignore her, overlook her snarky remarks or eye-rolls of disapproval as I tried to trudge my way through work- and in life in general. I doubt she’s ever realize how much work, how much time and effort I put into it. But I guess she doesn’t see that. All she sees is whatever trouble I end up getting myself into. It sickens me.
But he says otherwise. “You can do it,” he likes to tell me. “You can do many things. What you can do now, there’s more to it.” He is supportive. He likes to encourage. Sometimes he says it so often that I believe it; and for a moment, I believe in myself. I don’t tell him about how I’m doing, how I’m feeling, what I want to do next… but he knows. He’s just there, quietly waiting and watching.
They always have conversations with me. Nobody really ever sees them except me, and I know they’re there.
Hello again, friends! This post is long overdue, but I hope you still enjoy reading this review. 😀
Liquid lipsticks are still on trend these days, with companies releasing their own version of them. I still personally prefer and love NYX Cosmetics most, because of its large shade range – and their below-P500 price range for lipsticks really can’t be beat! Everyone loves their Soft Matte Lip Creams, which have also expanded their range with new additions; but I’m here to review 4 of their Liquid Suede Cream Lipsticks!
I purchased mine from a NYX store in SM Fairview while visiting a friend. I spent a good amount of time swatching them on my lips, and I ended up buying 2 neutral shades and 2 deeper ones.
Doll up your lips in plush and vibrant color! Our Liquid Suede Cream Lipstick glides on and sets into a striking matte finish. Now available in 12 more velvety-soft shades, this waterproof lippie creates a positively polished look with every swipe.
I don’t think I’ve ever been more scared or apprehensive or worried in my life.
With the time I have on my hands, I’ve been doing a lot of thinking about.. many things. Sometimes the thoughts are mundane – like what should I do with my hair today (the answer is almost always just ‘tie it all up in a bun and get it over with’), other times the thoughts are somewhat existential – like why the hell am I still trying to figure out my life when a lot of my peers already have theirs together. I don’t know why I’m struggling so hard to find what I want and where I fit in. It’s really difficult for me to even consider thinking about my future when my present’s still so messed up.
For a while now (I don’t remember how long it’s been, I think it’s been many months), I feel as if I don’t have any motivation or drive to do anything. I feel so uninspired. I feel, to put it generally. tired. Tired of life, I think. Tired of living? Maybe it’s early onset depression or something. I don’t really know. Depression isn’t something to be taken lightly, but I’m not dismissing it because I really feel as if there’s a dark cloud looming over me. Something like that.
I mean I know I like makeup, and writing about makeup. But my writing isn’t really to the point that I can really make a living out of it yet, do you know what I mean? I’ve always written for myself and I’ve always written about the things that I like, but I really don’t think my awkwardly informal writing can really do much.
If you manage to somehow discover a copy of my school yearbook back when I was Senior Prep, then you’ll find out that besides me loving to talk about what I did on vacation, I love to talk about a particular cartoon featuring a magical girl who calls upon the power of the moon to transform into a pretty soldier – that’s right, my favourite childhood show was Sailor Moon!
And surprise, surprise – almost two decades later, I’ve managed to fall in love with the series all over again. (Check out what I have to say about it on here!)
When I really like a series or a band or a group (or anything I’m very deeply into the fandom of), I try to look for official merchandise and stores that sell them. Now, I’ve always talked about the wonders of Instagram and online selling, and sometimes it takes a bit of digging to find the store that sells exactly what you’re looking for!
Through a chain of clicks, I stumbled upon this gem of a store – Tokyo Fanatics!
From their Facebook page:
Tokyo Fanatics is a seller of small items straight from Japan. Our merchandise includes: gashapons, beauty/skincare products, Japanese magazines, and more.
If there’s any beauty brand that gives off that wild, rock n’ roll, kind of vibe, it’s definitely Kat Von D Beauty! Like its namesake, tattoo artist and entrepreneur Kat Von D, the brand takes pride in not only producing high-quality cosmetics, but also in its edgy, rebel creative spirit – from colour variety, shade names, and even to the intricate designs that adorn its packaging. KVD herself takes pride in being personally involved with every aspect of production, and what started out as a collaboration with Sephora has transformed into a full-on beauty revolution – bold and outspoken, the KVD way is actually very simple – be your most creative YOU!
Here in the Philippines, the brand isn’t readily available yet. Luckily, online sellers help make sourcing and ordering items from the most coveted beauty brands so much easier! I happen to frequently use Instagram in my search, looking for the best deals for hard-to-find beauty items!
My search led me to this beauty: the Kat Von D Innerstellar Eyeshadow Palette!
Hello, friends! 🙂 Yesterday marked the end of my Lipsticks of the Week series (otherwise known as March Madness to me, haha). I’m really happy and relieved that I’ve finished my very first series on my blog; it’s the first time I’ve really done anything like this!
Let’s look back at the lipsticks from 22-23 March, because I only went to work on those days that week. It was the Holy Week celebration here in the Philippines, and I was off work from Maundy Thursday to Easter Sunday – I figured it was only natural to not wear makeup on those holidays, mainly because I felt it would be respectful to the actual reason for Holy Week.
TUESDAY – 22 March
Aha, a photo wherein you can see my whole face! This was Colourpop’s Ultra Matte Lip in Clueless – a pretty mauve-pink that somehow brightens up my face. And for good measure – I had to work a morning shift that day, which my evening/closing shift body clock totally hates! Needless to say, I was so, so sleepy.. but Clueless makes me look less tired, I think. And me, not love this lip colour? AS IF!
WEDNESDAY – 23 March
NYX Butter Gloss in Peach Cobbler was actually the first one I purchased from the Butter Gloss line – it was the only one available when I visited the NYX Cosmetics store in SM City Cebu, while on a solo trip there. It looks intimidating, a bright orange straight out of the tube; but once slicked onto the lips it’s actually a pretty coral. I love that colour is buildable, and lips never feel parched. A word of caution – don’t slather on too many layers as it’ll end up quite tacky! But nevertheless, the Butter Glosses are really in a league of their own; at least to me!
Apologies for not posting last week’s Lipsticks of the Week post – mainly because I only wore lipstick on Tuesday and Wednesday. I took the rest of the week off because it was Holy Week, which also called for me catching up on sleep, catching up with family and friends, and basically just taking a break.. from life. Hahaha!
I’ll be extending the series to the first few days of April, so next week’s post will have the previous Tuesday and Wednesday lippies, and this whole workweek.
Thank you again for taking time out of your busy lives to visit my little online nook and read my posts! 🙂
Hello friends! This week’s not only been busy, but excruciatingly hot as well! ;A; But then again, looking forward to what lipstick I’ll be wearing for the day helps to beat the summer heat blues.. or.. reds? I don’t know. Haha!
TUESDAY – 15 March
Revlon’s Super Lustrous Lipstick in Foxy Lady was gifted to me by one of my best friends, Alexis, and I’d only gotten to wear this beauty that day! It looks scary and dark in the tube, but it applies on as a beautiful, sheer espresso brown. Though not very pigmented, I like that I can layer it on for more coverage; and yet it manages to sit comfortably on my lips.
WEDNESDAY – 16 March
I wore a favourite – LA Splash’s Smitten Waterproof Liptint Mousse in Nymphadora (now called Nymphaea). I bought it mainly because of the Harry Potter reference (I am a Potterhead, and always will be – hello, Tonks!), and kept using and wearing it because it’s such a pretty nude brown on me. I love it! I’ve actually got a backup tube stashed in my closet. Hahaha! Continue reading “Lipsticks of the Week: 15-20 March 2016”→
